Attendance Desk Contact and Policies
Attendance can be called 24 hours each day at (408) 366-7604 or parents can speak to the attendance technician directly by visiting the attendance desk in the main office between 8:00am and 4:00pm during school days. Please read the attendance information document for more info.
- Students’ all day and partial absences must be cleared within two (2) days (48 hours); otherwise they will be considered unexcused absences. This includes weekends & holidays
- If your student needs to leave campus for any reason, a parent or guardian must call the attendance desk at least 30 minutes before the student’s departure. The student and parent must pick-up an off campus pass from the attendance desk before departure, otherwise it will be considered an unexcused absences. If the student feels ill, please have the student notify the teacher so the student can be sent to the main office. To minimize disruptions in the classroom, students will not be called out of class but sent a notice that may take up to 15 minutes.
- After three (3) consecutive school days of Illness, the student must provide a doctor’s note upon their return to school. A teacher may request a doctor’s note for illness at any time.
- If your student has any type of medical appointment during school hours, the student must bring a doctor’s visit notification form when returning to school. If they are not returning to school the same day, they must bring the notice in the next day.
- If your student is arriving late to school for any reason, the parent or guardian must call the attendance office before the student’s arrival. The student must pick-up an “admit to class” pass from the attendance desk before entering class, otherwise it will be considered an unexcused absence. For medical reasons refer to points #3 & #4.
- Students are considered tardy when they arrive after the second bell rings (or when it is scheduled to ring) and within the first 15 minutes of class the students are considered tardy. After the 30 minutes it is considered as an truant tardy. Parents may not excuse a tardy.
- The student is responsible to pick up items left for them by their parents at the attendance desk. To minimize disruptions in the classroom, reminder notices will not be sent to the classroom. Classes will not be interrupted for delivery of personal belongings and educational materials.

Locker Policy
Lockers are assigned to students during the first weeks of school. It is the student’s responsibility to provide a lock and to maintain a clean locker area. Monta Vista is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Since the lockers are located outside of secured areas, items left overnight and on weekends may be subject to theft or vandalism. Lockers may be subject to search by school personnel. Students who do not follow the process of applying for a locker will lose their locker privileges; locks will be cut and contents removed from lockers that are not officially assigned.
Please fill out the chalk school locker form and your locker will be assigned to you. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Mandac in the ASB office.
