Blue Ribbon School
Monta Vista has been named a National Blue Ribbon School. Only three high schools in the state of California were awarded this honor in 2014. Theatre: "She Kills Monsters"


Tickets for the fall play, She Kills Monsters, are now on sale! Performance dates are Friday, Nov 10, Saturday Nov 11, Friday, Nov 17, Saturday, Nov 18 at 7pm in the Monta Vista Auditorium. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Buy your tickets now online at Seat Yourself or in the rally court during lunch.

Speaker: Digital Impact of Teens
Monta Vista PTSA and Kennedy PTA are proud to co-sponsor guest speaker, Dr. Jean Twenge, on Tuesday, November 28 from 7-8:30pm in the MV Auditorium. Dr. Twenge is the author of the book iGen: Why Today's Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy--and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood. Challenge Day is THURSDAY, February 1, 2018 THERE IS ONLY ONE CHALLENGE DAY FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR. Visit this page for a permission slip or Invitation to Students (informational letter). What do attendees say about Challenge Day? People say they had a lot of fun, it opened their eyes, they laughed, they cried, they saw others in a new light, felt more connected and alive. They'll say that they want to go again. But it is hard to describe an experience. Experience Challenge Day for yourself. Greatly increase your social/emotional IQ in one day, on your road to greater happiness.

Challenge Day is free, held in the gym, and lunch is provided. Everyone (students, teachers, parents, staff) is welcome to register. Space is limited, so register early. If you attended Challenge Day before, you are eligible to be a Teen Leader. If this is you, write "Teen Leader" at the top of your Permission Slip. Students need to turn in a completed Permission Slip to Richard Prinz, Student Advocate. You can put the Slip in Richard's mailbox in the Main Office or his office is Room D204.

Newsweek has published a list of the top 500 high schools in 2016. MV is ranked at #18 based upon a formula which includes graduation rates, college enrollment rates, AP/ACT/SAT participation and scores, and the number of counselors at a school. Way to go, Mats!
